The Mission of the Faculty Senate is to serve as a representative voice of the faculty
and to provide a means of communication between the faculty and the Chancellor and
the Administration staff of LSU Health New Orleans.
The Faculty Senate is an elected body representing the faculty of the six schools
on our campus (i.e., the Schools of Allied Health, Dentistry, Graduate Studies, Medicine,
Nursing, and Public Health) as well as the LSU Health New Orleans library. Senators
are elected via each of the Schools' Faculty Assemblies / Organizations. The Senate
serves as a representative voice of the faculty and provide a means of communication
between faculty, the Chancellor and his administration, as well as with the assemblies
of the individual schools and Faculty Senates of other institutions in the LSU system.
The Senate also elects two members to serve as representatives to attend meetings
of the LSU Board of Supervisors.
The Senate meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month, with the exception
of July (summer recess). The meeting time, place and agenda are posted in advance,
and meetings are open to the public.
President's Message
Dear LSU Health New Orleans Faculty and Guests:
As a faculty member in the Schools of Medicine, Graduate Studies and Dentistry and an alumna of the Graduate Studies Ph.D. program, I am honored to serve as the 2025-26 President of the LSU Health New Orleans Faculty Senate!
It is my belief that active faculty engagement is fundamental to the vitality of an academic institution. Shared governance strengthens institutions by fostering an environment of collaboration, trust and respect. Robust faculty participation in shared governance is the engine that drives institutional effectiveness and practice innovation. The LSU Health’s tripartite mission of excellence in teaching, research and service cannot be fully realized without healthy dialogue between the administration that supports this work and the faculty who work tirelessly to deliver on these promises. As President, I am committed to championing the diverse voices of the faculty across all schools; cultivating transparent and effective bidirectional communication between the faculty and the administration; and nurturing meaningful faculty participation in shaping the vision for LSU Health and realizing that vision.
I invite you to actively engage with your Senate delegates, attend Senate meetings, and review post-meeting minutes. Your questions, comments, and concerns are welcome and can be emailed to your Senate delegates or shared with the Faculty Senate via this form: Faculty Senate Contact Form. Bring your passion to a meeting and speak on an agenda topic by registering at least 2 hours in advance via the contact form. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Cameron, PhD
President 2025-2026
LSU Health New Orleans
